About Emma

Emma is a British writer of Danish descent. Born in Lancashire, she now splits her time between Cheshire and London.

As a child, she was spellbound by stories, especially the works of C.S. Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Hans Christian Andersen, Susan Cooper and Roald Dahl. Emma was the kind of child that always had a book, even in the bath. She once walked into a lamppost because she was reading while walking down the street. And that probably tells you more about her than she would wish for you to know.

At school, Emma published poetry and helped to establish a school magazine. At university, she studied English Literature, wrote for the university newspaper, and worked as a college librarian. She was always a little disappointed to never hear ‘ook’ from deep in the stacks.

Having spent most of her childhood lugging around several heavy books, in adulthood Emma was delighted to discover e-books. She was less delighted to discover commuting. Thankfully, the works of Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and J.K. Rowling can improve even the Northern Line*.

Perhaps inspired by those long commutes, Emma now works with corporations, using stories to help people feel better about having to go to work. When she’s not working or sleeping, she’s reading, watching or writing stories. You can read some examples of Emma’s work on this site.

*Borrowing a stylistic technique from Sir Terry to say that however we may feel about the other two, you have to admit that their writing is damned good. The Northern Line is just damned.
